PEP and LWV of Greenville County to Sponsor School Board Candidate Forums
Greenville, S.C. – Public Education Partners (PEP), Greenville’s only independent nonprofit solely dedicated to investing in and improving public education, and the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Greenville County are teaming up to sponsor two Greenville County School Board Candidate Forums later this month.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from District 18 incumbent Pat Sudduth and challenger Bob Cotter at Taylors Public Library on October 22 at 7pm, and from District 22 incumbent Lynda Leventis-Wells and challenger Rob Kendrick at Pelham Road Public Library on October 24 at 7pm. Paul Hyde, Public Information Coordinator for Clemson University and former Education Reporter for The Greenville News, is moderating both forums.
“We appreciate the opportunity to co-host these school board candidate forums with the League of Women Voters,” said PEP President & CEO Dr. Ansel Sanders. “Our goal is to have as many community members as possible attend the forums to get to know the candidates. “
The LWV is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. They have been collaborating with PEP to sponsor School Board forums for the past two decades.
“Cosponsoring these candidate forums furthers two important goals of the League of Women Voters — supporting our public education system and promoting voter education and participation,” said LWV of Greenville County President Lawson Wetli. “School boards are crucial, and we encourage everyone to come out, ask questions and hear what the candidates have to say.”
If interested in attending, admission and parking is free. For more information contact LWV of Greenville County at 864-434-1641, and to see a map of each School Board Trustee’s district, visit: http://www.gcgis.org/apps/greenvillejs/?MapTheme=School%20Board%20Trustee%20Areas.
