Community Based Family Engagement Resources

Parent Leadership Partners (PLP Network)

Public Education Partners and several Greenville community-based organizations (Pleasant Valley Connection, Upstate Circle of Friends, Goodwill Industries) are piloting a new initiative to train and  empower parents with skills to advocate for their children, build trusting family relationships and systematically affirm parents’ agency and advocacy within the school district.

Anticipated outcomes:

  • Increase parent to parent support
  • Increase parent/family awareness of school’s policies and procedures
  • Increased parent/family engagement in student academic planning, i.e. Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) process
  • Increase parent participation in school & district events
  • Increase parent and student self-advocacy
