Teacher Fellows

Educators are leaders in their classrooms, their schools, and their communities. They are powerful advocates for our students and we aim to amplify their voices through leadership opportunities like our Teacher Fellows program.

Teacher Fellows is a half-year policy and advocacy fellowship for Greenville County Schools educators. Participants will meet twice monthly to learn from experts, discuss education policy in South Carolina, and develop their advocacy skills. This is an intensive fellowship and will require out-of-session work, including but not limited to, readings, research, and journal entries. 

Participants will earn a stipend of $1,200, paid in two installments of $600.

Teacher Fellows FAQ

Greenville County Schools teachers, librarians, counselors, reaching coaches, instructional coaches, and other non-administrative educators working in schools are encouraged to apply. Those working in Title I and OnTrack Greenville schools will receive preference. Applicants must be in good standing with the District. Our goal is a diverse cohort of professionals that represent different levels of experience, both within the school system and as advocates. We are looking for creative, trailblazing individuals.

Cohort 2 will begin on October 10, 2022 and end in March 2023. We are currently accepting applications for cohort 2.

The fellowship is free. Participants will earn a stipend of $1,200 for their participation. All materials will be provided as well.

The cohort will include 10 participants.

Participants will be expected to participate in every session. However, we understand that life throws us curve balls and things come up. As such, participants may miss two sessions and still earn their certificate of completion. We recommend applying to participate in a later cohort if the time commitment doesn’t feel doable at this time.

The inaugural cohort will meet twice monthly, on Mondays from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. The first monthly meeting will occur in person while the second meeting of each month will occur virtually via Zoom. The first meeting will take place on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 5:00 - 6:30 PM and is mandatory. Individuals accepted into the cohort will receive a schedule of meeting dates and additional information.

PEP will award a certificate of completion that participants may then submit to the school district as “out of district” professional development. It is up to the school district whether they will accept the certificate of completion.

Yes, applications will be considered on a rolling basis through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022. Finalists will be asked to participate in an interview the week of September 26th and will be notified of their acceptance to the program no later than October 7th.
